Strict compliance with pandemic protocol is observed in handling out-patient to the in-patient services, quality care is assured.
Some of common OB-GYN procedures we provide, thru OPD basis are pap-smear, VIA, office endometrial or cervical biopsy, IUD insertion or removal, vaginal polypectomy, etc.
For inpatient emergency or elective procedures, we offer normal vaginal delivery, assisted vaginal delivery, CS delivery, D&C, exploratory laparotomy for cervical, uterine, ovarian or tubal conditions and vaginal and abdominal hysterectomy.
The minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) unit for hysteroscopy and gynecologic laparoscopy is a state-of-the-art project of the Ob-Gyn Department.
Hysteroscopy is a vaginal approach procedure used for the evaluation and management of abnormal uterine bleeding such as irregularities in menstruation or bleeding during menopause by direct visualization(compared to the conventional endometrial biopsy or curettage which is a blind procedure) of uterine cavity, through a hysteroscope connected to a monitor.
This may be done as an outpatient or inpatient basis depending on the patient’s surgical criteria and available equipment.
Gynecologic laparoscopy on the other hand, is an abdominal approach surgery used for uterine, ovarian and tubal operations. It only needs 2-4 small incisions (1-2cm) on the abdomen compared to a 5-10cm abdominal incision in open laparotomies. Hence, patient’s healing is faster and hospital stay is shorter with a better aesthetic outcome of the incision sites.
Initial plan has already been discussed to facilitate the MIGS unit last year however due to the lockdown, the execution of plan has been slowed down. Nevertheless, ACEMCV Ob-Gyn department is committed to push thru with the project to offer a more advanced and cost-effective surgical options and management for our patients.
