OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY

The Ob-Gyn Department of Allied Care Experts Medical Center Valenzuela (ACEMCV) is composed of OB-GYN active consultants, visiting consultants and junior consultants. All consultants are experts and board certified Obstetrician and gynecologist.

For non-emergency obstetrical or gynecological consultations, most of the active OB-GYN consultants have regular OPD Clinic schedule at the 4th floor of our hospital, while for emergency OB-GYN conditions, an assigned OB-GYN Junior Consultant, on a 24-hour duty at the Emergency Room ,can immediately attend to the emergency patient and refer such case to the attending OB-GYN Consultant or to the OB-GYN Consultant on deck for the walk-in patients.

Aside from providing general OB-GYN consultations and management, we offer a wide array of subspecialty referral and management.

The OB-GYN ultrasound section, manned by FPSUOG certified OB-GYN sonologists, is open daily from Monday to Saturday, for sonographic evaluation such as basic ultrasound procedure, like transabdominal ultrasound, obstetric and gynecologic transvaginal ultrasound and special procedures like Congenital Anomaly Scan, OB and GYN Doppler studies, SISH, HSSG and 3D/4D ultrasound. OB-GYN facilities passed the minimum standard criteria for OB-GYNE care and management. Currently, we offer well-equipped labor rooms, delivery rooms, operating rooms, recovery rooms and delivery units as well as laparoscopy unit, intended for simple or complicated surgical procedures. Several rooms can accommodate obstetrics and gynecologic patient.

The OB-GYN department has established protocol in handling Covid patient. There are designated area for covid confirmed cases and covid negative patients. Safety of mothers and babies is ACEMCV’s top priority, our outmost concern during this pandemic.

Strict compliance with pandemic protocol is observed in handling out-patient to the in-patient services, quality care is assured.

Some of common OB-GYN procedures we provide, thru OPD basis are pap-smear, VIA, office endometrial or cervical biopsy, IUD insertion or removal, vaginal polypectomy, etc.

For inpatient emergency or elective procedures, we offer normal vaginal delivery, assisted vaginal delivery, CS delivery, D&C, exploratory laparotomy for cervical, uterine, ovarian or tubal conditions and vaginal and abdominal hysterectomy.

The minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) unit for hysteroscopy and gynecologic laparoscopy is a state-of-the-art project of the Ob-Gyn Department.

Hysteroscopy is a vaginal approach procedure used for the evaluation and management of abnormal uterine bleeding such as irregularities in menstruation or bleeding during menopause by direct visualization(compared to the conventional endometrial biopsy or curettage which is a blind procedure) of uterine cavity, through a hysteroscope connected to a monitor.

This may be done as an outpatient or inpatient basis depending on the patient’s surgical criteria and available equipment.

Gynecologic laparoscopy on the other hand, is an abdominal approach surgery used for uterine, ovarian and tubal operations. It only needs 2-4 small incisions (1-2cm) on the abdomen compared to a 5-10cm abdominal incision in open laparotomies. Hence, patient’s healing is faster and hospital stay is shorter with a better aesthetic outcome of the incision sites.

Initial plan has already been discussed to facilitate the MIGS unit last year however due to the lockdown, the execution of plan has been slowed down. Nevertheless, ACEMCV Ob-Gyn department is committed to push thru with the project to offer a more advanced and cost-effective surgical options and management for our patients.
